Or do you have super fast, reliable ALL Ethernet connected devices and all other internet upgrades work flawlessly?

Concur, never had any issues updating. There are many possibilities in the network infrastructure.
...he managed to get through it. Not sure what he did or if he just 'messed with it' and hit upon a solution never really figuring out the root cause.I agree. It is likely to be networking and/or network security related and that could even mean / firewall / port settings in his Wifi Router / VLAN but he's probably not running a VLAN. And PC security settings. I like to keep my home network 'flat' and simple.

Abe, are correct: the same thing occurred the last time Roon did a software update. To be clear, I love the Roon functionality. My problem is their update process and lack of support. What fixed it last time and this time was repeatedly deleting and reinstalling the Core and Remote. Suddenly. poof! and it works. Roon was no help at all.
I find it very hard to believe that it is a network problem. I have 1Gb fiber and my router is new and top rated by Wirecutter. Everything in the house hums along with nary a problem. We can have three TVs streaming 4K movies with no hiccups. With every other device, whether TV. streamer, or whatever, the update process is painless. You click OK, it downloads, and 5 minutes later you are done. Not Roon.
There is no point in belaboring this. I appreciate the people who responded respectfully and politely. Some of the othes, not so much. Thanks again.
Hey Jim,
I'm pleased to hear that you got Roon updated and under control. I hope you are enjoying some great music.
I went over to the Roon suppport site to try to find the history about your issues with Roon software updates but couldn't find you over there. What is your user name that I could search on?
I ask because Roon support suggests that folks who are having problems should include a detailed description of their system and network components. Roon has a suggested template in the FAQs for what info to include. Link below. I thought I might be able to help if could get some context.
As I said in a previous reply, it is an unusual approach that Roon takes - making tech support tickets open to public view - and the result is that you can get some well-intentioned but misguided advice mixed in with the "official" responses. But there really are some experienced, helpful people over there. Separating the wheat from the chaff can be challenging.

. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
Thanks! I appreciate your response.
...but again I don't think the problem is with Roon software as others and myself never seem to experience Roon update issues. I'm sure it can be frustrating for you but at least you have a workaround to get it going. If it's on a PC/Mac another thought came to mind. Not that it matters at this point but do you have any virus / malware monitoring software possibly blocking updates but not complete manual re-installs?

I am on a Mac. It has MalwareBytes but my understanding is that only scans when you tell it to. Unlike an antivirus. But again, nothing else has this problem.
Thanks again.
