Thanks for your reply... A little more information......
Not only have I unplugged the Ethernet Cable and Plugged it back it in. I have actually replaced the cable and the TV did not reconnect, until I removed power from the TV at the Plug. Turning the power of the TV off and back on, did not reconnect it.
I even let it sit overnight with the power off, and it still would not re-connect, until I removed power from the plug itself. And this was with a Completely new Ethernet Cable.
This is the first TV I had do this in this exact space.
Follow Ups:
turn your attention to the modem / router ... you've made no mention of it
cycle that on / off, then log into it as Fred indicated
then look at firmware updates on the TV
regards,
Yes, I have searched for Firmware upgrades on the Router. Have Re-booted it.... And yes, I can log in and see the Wired TV Connection. And I just checked the TV for updates again, and there are none.
And of course I can connect to the router Wirelessly from the TV and have no problems. (Which may be the solution that I choose in the end).
And since this is an intermittent problem, it is going to be very hard to pin down. I can stream Netflix or Amazon just fine for an hour or so, and then I can lose internet connection.
"And yes, I can log in and see the Wired TV Connection." Sometime, when the problem occurs and you aren't going to watch TV for a while, leave it like that and check the router connection status again. There are some pretty long timeouts. You should also be able to see the IP address, try to ping it from another device when it drops the connection. You could also try to disable V6 Internet protocol and force it to V4, but it is really a long shot.
If you have a different router available to you, it would be interesting to try it. It does sound like it is a TV problem, but that doesn't necessarily mean that changing something else wouldn't correct it. I'm saying this because this should have shown up under LG testing, so with some configuration the wired connection was probably reliable for them when they tested it.
With the link that Abe provided.... It was an LG TV Glitch.... It's been running all afternoon without a hitch....
a few more ideas .. .
using a hub with the router?
is there more than one 'jack' to try on the router? mine has two
who owns it and can you swap it for another?
also ... if you checked firmware updates is there one 'close' to the problem and will the TV system allow rollbacks of updates?
if you were to do a search about firmware updates on LG's causing problems you'll get a lot of hits ... at least I did when I sorted mine out
good luck!
If other items on your network are not experiencing Ethernet problems like your TV, the problem is not likely to be your router. The problem points to your TV.... especially with your description that power cycling the TV reestablishes the Ethernet connectivity, at least until it disconnects and you have to do the power cycle ritual again.
