Where do I find my WiFi SSID?
I have the IP address thanks to IP Scanner on my phone.
IP Scanner also gives me the MAC Address.
SSID is likely buried in there somewhere but the last time I logged into my router it took an 'IT Professional' half an evening to fix all of the things I'd messed up!
Follow Ups:
Do you use an iPhone and is it on Wifi when you are at home ?If so, go to the Settings Icon > Wifi. It will display the SSID that you are presently connected to, which is more than likely to be your home Wifi.
The SSID is essentially a name that identifies a wireless network. It can be a random name set up by your ISP or a familiar name that you choose. My Dad's Wifi SSID is USMC as he is a retired Marine. Of course, you will need to know your SSID and the password to log devices onto your Wifi network.... assuming a password was assigned when your Wifi was first set up.
Otherwise, there are easy ways to 'see' nearby Wifi networks on your Mac in System Preferences > Network > Wifi. You might 'see' an SSID that you recognize.

So the SSID is just the freaking WiFi channel's NAME.
WTF didn't they just say so instead of:
"SSID is a case sensitive, 32 alphanumeric character unique identifier attached to the header of packets sent over a wireless local-area network (WLAN)."
??
You pretty much nailed it! It's just the name of the wireless network.... but it's not specific to just a channel. Your Wifi router may choose a random channel or you can pick the channel you want but whatever channel it is on, the SSID (Name) remains the same.
I have a number of them as I have two WiFi routers in the house and each has a different default name for 2.4GhZ and 5GhZ with 5G after brand name of the router plus a couple numbers.
Ex: 'AppleWiFi 24G', AppleWiFi 5G 'NETGEAR13-24G' and 'NETGEAR13-5G'
Doesn't matter as I have assigned each the same password.
Some people name their SSIDs .....
"Free Wifi",
"FBI Secured-Do Not Connect"
"Virus Prone - Do not Connect"
"Porn Watch Will Report Connections"
"LGBT Internet"
Cut-Throat
They can call their WiFi network 'F$%kYouBob' . :-)
"What She SSID"
Cut-Throat
That is a configuration setting with my Cisco WAP300s.Most router/access points are accessible via a browser by entering the IP address. Try that.
If not, let a smartphone tell you what's broadcasting in your area. Perhaps you might recognize it. If not, turn your unit off, try again and note what disappeared. :)
