When I purchased the Canare cable and connectors for the uRendu following John Swenson's post, I got far more cable than I needed for that application alone and had extra connectors.Today, I clipped the 6' long wimpy 22 gauge cord to the Jameco linear and replaced it with a 4' run of (effectively) 17 gauge Canare. Soldered the ends at the linear and wrapped with electrical tape.
Difference? Well, I believe that lowering the resistance and inductance by 80% did yield some improvements with the inexpensive power supply. This added a mere two bucks to the initial $15 investment so it was a no-brainer. Today, I compared it with my 2A Jockery battery to see how it now compares.
The battery supply still trumps the linear in terms of top end smoothness and dynamic punch. The "He's Here for Us" track from the 24/96 soundtrack from Rogue One clearly illustrates that point for me.
Conclusions? Short of buying a really capable linear, a strong cell phone battery sure works nicely powering a Pi.
edit: the battery supply uses a ten inch USB to mini-USB cable.

The battery was great for a while but all of this stuff now lives in a corner behind a chair in the living room where the power outlet and the Ethernet jack are easily available and I am not going to dig about to swap or charge batteries every day or two.
The Pi is on 24/7, LMS is on a Headless Mac Mini in the listening room which is also on 24/7. I control it all from an iPad and the only thing I am aware of now is the Audio-GD Master 11 DAC/Headphone amp which sits on a small stand next to my chair, and my new Russian 'cans'.
May end up with a microRendu at some point as they are now hitting the used market with the introduction of the ultraRendu.
Then we can start this silliness all over again. :-)

When I listen casually to internet radio / Tidal while washing the car, etc. I use the modified Jameco for convenience.

Then, you'll need an LPS-1 cum Canare 4S6. :)

I can try it with the Pi and have an 'under $100' streamer powered by a $400 PS, which is très audiophile, oui?
You really need to hear a uRendu / LPS-1 /Canare in your system.
Hmmm Years Ago 'swenson' was posting Mods to his Toshiba DVD player.
Claims of major improvements.
Being naive I followed/copied and did exactly the same.
Result was a Komplete bungle... far lesser sounds than before mods.A decisive lesson in believing/following Other's Foolish 'internet' claims.
Couldn't believe someone would claim AND post this as an Improvement.Older and wiser .. Now, I hope :-).

you're still unhappy about adding two caps to a cheap 3960 transport thirteen years ago?
All righty then!
