Still no wifi with the "Audio" version, standard version works fine.
Dynobots Audio - Music is the Bridge Between Heaven and Earth
Follow Ups:
The Audio kernel has nothing to do with DSD!!
The Audio kernel comes with numerous audio and I2S related patches.
And it also supports 384k for I2S DACs.
Beside that there are certain kernel optimizations inside, which
allow for lower latencies. These make the kernel more efficient.
The Wifi modules are not properly managed, because the package and kernel management of TinyCore Linux is all but straight forward.
Beside that, people who look for good quality sound turn the Pi onboard Wifi and BT off anyhow.
Basically: No need for an audio kernel if you want OnBoard Wifi activated.
Why do I know all that? ....
Enjoy.
Perhaps a better question would be:
"Why do I have the need to tell everyone everything I know?" ;-)
OR...........Why do you have to be so arrogant and nasty instead of just helpful?Cut-Throat

Look.
I spent (and still do) numerous (unpaid) hours to provide folks like you with free software.
So...
Why do I know all of it !?!?
The answer is: Because I'm part of the game. Yep. I'm that nasty.
You're welcome.
Enjoy.
There are 3-4 who come here to put others down, with little or no contribution to a topic. In this case, you attempted to answer a question, but they just put it down to:
why do I need to know and
why are you being nasty?
the two claim that they are either IT technocrats or are surrounded by them, yet don't seem to want to discuss the subject.
He commented to my statement:
I believe the Audio version allows DSD with the higher sampling rate as the benefit. This is due to using a different Kernel. Its also this kernel that is causing the wifi problems.
Which simply says the Audio Version allows for higher sampling rate and it uses a different Kernel which is the cause of the wifi problems.
PiCorePlayer says this about the Audio Version:
which contains all the same improvements as the above mentioned version, but in addition, we have added all the audio related patches that Clive (aka JackOfAll) made for the Raspberry Pi kernel. So here we have support for more i2s-DACs and we support higher sample rates etc.
Other than the wifi problems [that we currently know ARE problems] in the Audio version my statement only comments on the higher sample rates which are confirmed by PiCore.
So as you can see, not only did he not answer a question, but interjected his own rhetoric to a thread is his own special way....the argumentative, self promoting, egocentric and generally nasty way...
So how does he know all that? Who Cares and Who Asked?

Ok, there was no question mark but he commented in his own way, as you and others do. And so, why the attack?
Why the Attack?
Thats what I would like to know...
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Audio kernel has nothing to do with DSD!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who is attacking whom?
Dynobots Audio - Music is the Bridge Between Heaven and Earth
Why was this an attack and on whom?. He might not have been on topic and this could have been pointed out in the discussion. Instead, we had two comments that added nothing to your post.
Why didn't you object to this?
Why?
Since he posted to 'me' I felt his remarks were unnecessary and uncalled for since 1) I didn't ask a question 2) My OP was accurate according to PiCorePlayers own developers explanation. I also found his post to be of an aggressive nature and made it my choice not to respond in kind.
Others had their feelings about his post and posted a remark. I agreed and you took it upon yourself to defend him. I am not here to defend other people, he can defend himself. Or you can continue to take it upon yourself to defend him.
This is all I have to say on the subject.

I know you provide tweak info to MoOde and others, but exactly what software did you develop? Do you have software like Daphile, MoOde, Rune, Volumio etc?
If so, do tell...I'd love to try it.
With that said, I do acknowledge that your tweaks and mods have been a great contribution to computer audio. Which is why I'd love to see you produce a whole complete product re: MoOde et.al, I'm sure it would be awesome.
Dynobots Audio - Music is the Bridge Between Heaven and Earth
And why is that?
Don't make us guess, you might not like the answer. ;-)
I think he considers his touch tool box actual software vs a tweak of existing software.
No doubt he is proficient in Linux but I consider him a tweaker not a developer.
He's made mention of using his own but that has yet to materialize as a product. No doubt its based on something existing and modded. Either way being a long time Linux person I'm sure his tweaks sound good.

I'll refer to him as a 'developer'. :-)

Not to be confused with a Twerker.

Some people just need a hug and squeeze all the nastiness out of them.
Unfortunately being nasty means nobody wants to get close enough.

Is that the major difference with the 'Audio' version? Is that even a bad thing?
As I understand it, you end up blocking WiFi if you put the Pi in a metal case anyway? If one REALLY wants WiFi, why not buy a WiFi dongle and use a metal case and hopefully get the radio off the main board?
My 'headless' Mac Mini is set specifically for audio use and has both WiFi and BlueTooth disabled (somewhere in software but I have no idea if or how they are disabled).
I use a wireless bridge in my workshop system. You simply pair the wireless bridge to your router with the WPS button(s). You only have to do this one time. You wind up with four Ethernet ports that are connected to your network.
This is handy for my application because I have an old PC in my shop that doesn't have wireless. One port goes to the PC, one to the Pi and I have two spares.
Assuming that you have a good 'n' WiFi signal in the area where you need the ethernet output? Fiber router is in the garage so now problem there.
You only need one box?
Only room in our place that DOESN'T have Ethernet (ex-phone jack) is the bedroom as when we remodeled the wife didn't want me to have a phone in the bedroom. =:-0
Cell phone technology changed all of that. Now the phone is never more than a pocket away and all of the phone lines in the house are gigabit ethernet.
But I suppose if I ever want a Raspberry Pi with DAC/Headphone amp in the bedroom....
I believe the Audio version allows DSD with the higher sampling rate as the benefit. This is due to using a different Kernel. Its also this kernel that is causing the wifi problems.
The metal case blocking wifi is a myth. I use a metal case and wifi and it works just fine.

Is it worth pulling the uSD card and re-flashing?
Can you do it inside the Pi without losing the configuration? I've made number of changes (mostly as recommended here) and don't know if I recall everything I did.
No noticeable changes in sound, configuration or GUI.

In an effort to figure out why PCP didn't do WIFI with the Digi+Pro card, I flashed a microSD card with Raspbian and the WiFi worked fine in my metal case!
PCP just doesn't play well with Digi+ Pro Card.
