Wanted to test out tidal. Went onto the hifi test page using Chrome on my pc. Everything I tried sounded very compressed and nothing like any of the rips of cds I own. Wasn't just me listening either I would play tidal then one of my cd rips and the cd rip was always prefered.. do I have some setting I'm missing? I have a fast conection that's wired. Must be doing something wrong it all sounds like mp3s to me. Unless.. all the music i played was remastered to sound that way?
Follow Ups:
I checked Tidal's support page and found the following:
If you are using Google Chrome and you are unable to select HiFi as the music streaming quality.
You can go to chrome://plugins
Under the option "enable/disable native client" select always allow
You can also check to make sure that the NaCL plugin is enabled herechrome://nacl/, then you should see the following.
About NaCl
Google Chrome 41.0.2272.101 ()
OS Mac OS X
NaCl plugin /Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/Versions/41.0.2272.101/Google Chrome Framework.framework/Internet Plug-Ins/internal-nacl-plugin
Portable Native Client (PNaCl) Enabled
PNaCl translator path /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/pnacl/0.1.0.14206/_platform_specific/x86_64
PNaCl translator version 0.1.0.14185
Native Client (non-portable, outside web store) Disabled
If the PNaCl Client is disabled, then this is why you may not be able to select HiFi as one of the available streaming qualities.
I hope the above solves your problem. Please keep us posted.
Try the Tidal application instead of Chrome.
I have always understood that to get HIFI resolution Tidal must be opened in Chrome even when using there application

I'm on a Mac Mini and from day one of signing on to Tidal I have used the Tidal stand alone app. for the Mac OS. No Chrome on my Mini. I hear glorious Master file stereo. The stand alone app. is now at Ver. 2.1.5.228.
Perhaps Tidal is different for PC's?

CHROME is said to be the only browser capable of playing lossless FLAC at 16/44.1 quality but I have never loaded Chrome onto my computers.
Mostly because I don't trust GOOGLE with ANYTHING.
Its an application....nothing to do with a browser.
When Tidal was first released all there was was the web player which required opening in Chrome to get 16/44 flac file quality. If you did not open in chrome all you could get was mpg. That is fact. I have been a subscriber since day one. Now they have a new player which does not require chrome
Alan
Right...I remember that too. But now they have a stand alone application that has nothing to do with a browser.
Sorry, I want trying to be snotty.
On the settings page of Tidal do you have selected Hifi/Master?
Alan
Got it working. The hifi setting is not too shabby. Thanks everyone.
