with all of the energy on this and my general disgust with my LMS not being able to find my SB Touch (happened all too frequently), I figured I'd give it a shot.
After install and setup per the excellent instx in the archives here, I additionally had to install the LMS to pCP in order for my LMS to see my Tidal plugin. I currently have LMS and Squeezelite running in pCP. I assume that's what others are doing.
The music isn't playing even though all looks like it should. I don't have any stupid mistakes like a cable unplugged, etc. The playlists load, but nada.
I have audio out set to USB audio in pCP, and the only thing that's got me scratching me head is that the USB out from the RPi isn't powering my iDSD like the SB Touch did - the iDSD is in battery mode. Is this typical? is there a proper USB port to use for audio out?
I'll be working on it tomorrow. If anyone has a suggestion on what I should check out I'd appreciate it.
Thx,Steve
Follow Ups:
I was able to get it up and running by putting in the correct audio output settings in for the dac (duh, forgot that yesterday). Also removed LMS from the pCP.
Was playing great, but
I noticed my Tidal album list was not complete.
I went into mysq and noticed it still thought I had my old SBT as the player, so I deleted it.
Now I can't get Tidal app to correctly load up in my new pCP player. I try to login from both LMS and the mysq website and the site doesn't get that I have this player now.
More research necessary.
Thx

Remind me why everyone seems to dislike Roon?
Its easy to set up, stays set up, and works with everything from raspberry's to kilo buck streamers.
I'm not trying to start an argument Other than not working with Spotify or Qobuz I honestly don't know why.
Steve
but I'm guessing folks don't like to pay money to use software that doesn't work with the services they subscribe to.
Especially if the free stuff works with the services they subscribe to AND sound just a good.
I have nothing against ROON. I have heard side by side comparisons and found the sound quality no better than JRiver (which I also don't use).
For me, PcP is fine for streaming TIDAL and QOBUZ to my easy chair, plus it will play music stored on the hard drive of my main system.
And for my main system, a headless Mac Mini running iTunes (free) with Bit Perfect ($10) has yet to be beaten for sound quality by anything else I have tried.
Plus the Mac Mini, being a real computer, with run just about anything.
What am I missing?
With PcP, do you use the Tidal and Qobuz websites to navigate? I find Tidal pretty awful, but for me Roon makes it manageable.
I do like the metadata aspect...I am discovering lots of music because of it....so for me Roon is worth the financial upgrade over iTunes.
Tidal and QOBUZ are less than perfect for search purposes but I have learned over time how to find things I wish to hear on both.
I do wish TIDAL used the music label as a search term as QOBUZ does. Search with most music services is pretty much a product of the tags provided by the record label/publisher when they send the file to the service.
I find that if I can find a CD on AMAZON and use each and all of the search terms used on the AMAZON page, I can usually find it on TIDAL and/or QOBUZ using one or all of them.
I have even found cases where a miss-spelling of a performer's name follows an album all over the internet in all services and even on Amazon pages!
I might well try it. I'm sort of cheap and paying for Tidal even punches me in the gut a bit.
$20 a month to have access to millions and millions of tracks instantly. I feel like I've robbed the bank!
Every time I start to wander (way easier thru Roon) I see all those records I put back into bins because I had reached my limit on that shopping trip. Now I can have them all.

I'm not necessarily saying that I dislike Roon, its just that I prefer LMS much more.
LMS for myself has a much better UI (IMHO) and will support most anything out there. Also there a number of Worldwide developers that continue to provide new releases and enhancements in the form of Plugins.
And it does not require a Yearly Fee as Roon does.
I've installed Roon a couple times on their trial basis, and it looks like it may appeal to folks that are into Metadata, Album Art etc.

LMS continues to run on a Win7 box. I recently added the Tidal plug in which is recognized for both players. I use a HAT on the Pi with optical out for use with a DAC that has its own power supply.
I'm not quite sure at the moment how I'm going to deal with powering the Micro iDSD if running the USB from the Pi is not going to do it.
you might follow their recommendations for using a powered USB hub.
Even they refer to is as the "meaty monster". :)
Next I'm gonna try to load LMS on a separate Raspberry Pi and then try to stream music from a USB stick plugged into it.
Should work, or so I am told.
One of my favorite aspects of using LMS is eliminating redundant digital libraries.
That's what I was having to do previously with burning CD-R copies for different player locations.

you've been more of a help than you probably know in the various forums. I used your webpage/toolkit for Touch upgrades for years.

"I currently have LMS and Squeezelite running in pCP. I assume that's what others are doing."
NOPE.
LMS is running on a MacBook Air on the same network as the Pi.
When I use Firefox or Safari to go to "HTTP://(ip address of MackbookAir):9000
From there I get to LMS, hit setting in the lower right hand corner, go to plugins and make sure TIDAL is checked. Hit the 'logitech' link in the TIDAL row and it will allow you to log into your MySqueezebox account and configure TIDAL player settings including showing it in your player.
thanks Ivan- I'll remove LMS from the pCP and check it out again. Maybe I got tripped up and misread the Tidal plugin somehow when I first did it.
I'm already in a separate browser to use LMS, so it was a little confusing for me on how setting it in pCP would make a difference.
Thx
