I'm such an audio software whore.
So I went ahead and purchased Moode Audio v3.5
ONLY because it has Squeezelite as an option which allows me to stream Spotify and have access to everything LMS.
How does it sound compared to Rune, Volumio, DietPi and PiCorePlayer....??
Will need to sit down and really listen, but just from casual 'background' type listening I can already tell that its clearer on top.

Follow Ups:
Not sure why you don't build your own system.
You picked up a little Linux background in the past.
Just build a base Arch system (10minutes) and put squeezelite on it.
This will be better than all the cluttered Volumios etc.
Who needs an old-school WEB interface as player control??
Who needs an WEB interface with quite limited configuration options?
Just do it!
To be honest I've rolled my own dozens of times, on the Rpi, Beaglebone and of course normal computers.
For the most part I think it's just part bring lazy and part wanting to try other people's stuff.
Like with cooking, if you know how to cook, home food is the best. My pasta sauce and burgers beat anything I can buy ready made, but from time to time I still but fast food.

That's IMO nonsense.
No matter at what Linux distro you look at.
It all boils down to a kernel, squeezelite and some minor configs.
Yes I rolled my own in the past.
Yes kernel modifications and other tweaks are beneficial to all distros.
However unlike yourself I still think it's fun to use ready made stuff.

He's disagreeable, you're not. :-)
Cut-Throat
I agree...

I feel like making my own player app would be more analogous to making my own sushi. I'm leaving it to the experts.
Nah, not making the app itself, just the working parts. Basically installing the base system, ALSA, networking and squeezelite.
Dietpi does this without all the typing etc.

So I can somehow have BOTH? I'll be able to stream TIDAL and QOBUZ using Squeezelite while running Moode Audio v3.5 and play music from a USB stick hanging out of my Raspberry Pi?
Would a try.
Let us know how it sounds compared to PiPoorPlayer. ;-)
Yes you can use and have all the standard functionality of Squeezelite/LMS just like PiCorePlayer
AND/OR
Use MDP to play your music from USB stick, NAS etc. and play Internet radio streams.
Just click Configure-> Audio and turn Squeezelite On/Off

Yes, I could flash the one that's in there now but I think I'll wait and see if I can get this working.
So, how does it sound?
OK, you didn't seem to have a problem with PcP's sound, nor do I for that matter.
Assuming you still have to have a computer on your network running LMS to enjoy the LMS functionality?
Sure, I use the same computer for LMS with PiCore as I do with Moode.
LMS is still the server, Moode like PiCore uses Squeezelite as a Renderer.
-or-
It can be used in MPD mode to have MPD be both the server and the Renderer.
I have a bunch of Rpi's and a dozen or so SD cards. Right now I have one with Moode, one with PiCore in the kitchen and one with Dietpi in my main system. One is on reserve and is my test dummy.
All use the same LMS machine for music.

Beginning to make sense.OK, not a LOT of sense, but some. ;-)
