I don't think we are going to have much to talk about then.
But for someone new to Computer Audio, Volumio might be the best choice. This is due to no need to SSH or finding the player on the network via the router etc.
Just Flash, power up and go to volumio.local/ in your web browser to set-up.
Finding music on a NAS or connected drive is just a click away and done.
Finding a output device just select from the pull-down menu and done.
Finding a Internet Radio station, its preloaded with Shoutcast or add your own.
Plays Spotify, just download the plugin...sign in and play.
No other apps like LMS ie Tidal et.al.
Looks cool and it works [so far]. For the person who is totally Green to Computer Audio Volumio would be a great choice. Sound wise, it has the MPD flavor to my ears, which is slightly more thick/full in the lows vs. Squeeze.
Thats it.

Follow Ups:
I'm so glad to hear you say this. Batman steered me in this direction and I got distracted by several to do Diet Pi and PiCore. Your video is excellent. Thank you. I'm going to work on Volumio this weekend just for the personal satisfaction of doing a RP.

Great Will.
This computer audio thing is kind of a moving target. Active distributions like DietPi, Volumio, PiCorePlayer etc seem to always improve their software.
Give it a shot....its extremely simple. No video required imo.
Thanks for the comment about my other vid's....:-)

The bass is incredible.
I'm feeling validated. My original intent by way of Batman was to load Volumio. Got the push to do PiCore. I've never owned anything made by Logitech just by default. Great company.
I think PiCore is yesterday .....
Loving the updated Connect with carbon fiber cable.

Is it REALLY better than the Blue Jeans? :-)
Mine is much prettier than the one shown on the web page.
It is a beautiful blue textile covering; the color of the Caribbean Sea as in a Corona advertisement.
The looks even sound nice with the perky highs and the voluptuous bottom end what more can I say???

You would go for the Heretical Digital Cable PLUS!
No shabby, ordinary Heretical Digital Cable for you. :-)
I suggest exploring the sonic benefits of audiophile-quality cabling vs. more mundane Belden and Canare products intended for the pro audio marketplace. You might be surprised to find that high-performance cables are just as valuable as any other specialized audio product rather than the notion of a boutique cable without sonic merit. Once you find a computer audio configuration that delivers the goods as much as you might hope for, you may find that fine tuning and/or optimizing the presentation of an audio system via cabling is a vital aspect of the audiophile process. I would be glad to discuss the topic, if you wish, Ivan303.
I agree, the right cables [all not just digital] can make a big difference. Unfortunately there is no cookie cutter approach to solve every cable need. This is to say not all gear benefits from cables exactly the same.
However I do like my supra trico 75 ohm coaxial cable.

I can't say this. Volumio does not yet officially support the Digi+ Pro. You can try updating the kernel, but I can't say if it will work. You might have a look at Moode Audio which is similar to Volumio and has the Digi+ Pro driver already included.
Best regards,

Postby michelangelo » Mon Mar 27 2017 21:40We are doing some important rework to Volumio OTA updater, that will allow us to update the kernel.
Until we finish it, we won't update Volumio's kernel, therefore no support for Digi+ Pro.
Doing a balance beetween asking anybody to reflash their volumio and making Digi + pro users happy, I choose the first one.We are about 75% completition of the kernel OTA updater, so be patient a little more.

Next release, I am patient. Or a patient, LOL!
Yeah I think its right around the corner.
Others have it, so its doable, I think they just want to make sure everything else will work...wifi etc.
In the mean time USB works fine..:-)

Yes, it is a neat system.
There are a ton of developers working on it, lots and lots I have seen.
I donated $100 so far, they are doing a great job.
I did notice that they took away the ability to change the kernel settings to change the sound.
They used to have a pull down with Orion, ADX etc. and also a pull down to choose the kernel.
Back in Dec the Digi+ Pro was 'kinda' working but then I had a ton of problems [probably others too]. So it looks like the opted to slim it down in favor of robustness and get things working right before they released it out into the wild.

Just been down this road in the last couple months. Moode Audio is very much like Volumio and works a treat with the Digi + Pro. It has the updated kernel that supports the hardware.
Last time I looked Moode still did not support Spotify.
And according to the dev he is really not inclined to support Spotify because its not the direction he wants to take Moode.
So its still off my radar.

Looks like when they say stable they mean it now.
