I wondering if is must be only NUC vs anything that has the specs required.
According to the requirements anything with a i[3,5,7] and enough RAM, etc should work. After all its on a Linux base.
I'm going to try and see what happens.
Follow Ups:
Doesn't hurt to try but I was left with the impression that they stripped down the OS to the point that only the necessary drivers for a very specific hardware set was supported. In any case, it might be a fun little project but I don't have a need for another streamer right now.
I'm kinda focused on some HAM Radio stuff this weekend. Battery backup for my 2m FM transceivers in the office.
Power supply takes AC input as well as 12v battery input and switches to battery automatically if there's a power failure. It also maintains a charge on the external battery.
12v 75Ah AGM Battery under the desk.
@75 aH!
That could power a pre or power amp. :)
...relatively speaking.
The AGM battery weighs 51-Lbs. I was looking at 60Ah to 80Ah LiFePO4 batteries at 12v and they were only 18 - 25-Lbs but $550 - $750 ea AND required a special charger (so the the float charger in the power supply would not be compatible).
Lets see, <$150 out the door or $550 or more? No brainer in this application since weight isn't an issue here. But it will be when I assemble a portable setup in a Pelican case. The portable setup will need a smaller 20Ah to 30Ah pack.
