Sure, that's why we need to sell you a microRendu or an sMS-200.

"Sure, that's why WE need to sell you a microRendu or an sMS-200."(Emphasis mine).
No truer words...
Agree that getting the computer out is the best thing to come down the pike in some time.
But in most if not all cases, it's just replacing one computer with another.
My personal goal would be to have a $100 Raspberry Pi as a streamer, with $10,000 worth of accessories in front of it, behind it and hanging on it to make it sound better!
$1,000 LPSs on every router and/or switch in the house a good start?
I think so. =:-0
Your'e going to need a nice "Audiophile" enclosure for the RPi, otherwise it will never sound good.
Or good SPDIF board, or just one regulated USB output, no video, a combo OS/player, more RAM, a better NIC, galvanic isolation, etc....
In other words, much better hardware & OS, like say, a microRendu or SMS-200.....

Very clever how you led up to the mRu.
If it were only say $500 cheaper.

peeling off the thin plastic sheeting on both sides of all SEVEN parts of the case (including the part I didn't need)?
Maybe a copper inner enclosure, or just copper foil laminated onto the pieces of plastic?
Could be!
I put copper foil in my cases.
Going to the post office this afternoon, I'll send you a foot or so if you want.
OK, I've got some from my tube DIY days. Perhaps a bit thicker than you used. How thick is the stuff you used?
Be more interested at this point in turning off both radios(WiFI and Bluetooth) in the Raspberry Pi (if they are even on when not used?).
Don't know why I would need conductive glue.
Basically its a Faraday cage.
It's all just for fun. Nothing more.
