FWIW I tried your suggestion of using Ethernet to one of my wireless repeaters and it works like a champ.
Follow Ups:
The wireless repeater/client setup lowers quite some network originated issues.
In commercial USB gadget terms - it isolates, regenerates, reclocks, ... (I guess soon we'll see a $200 iNet-something popping up somewhere).
2 easy options u might try on top:
1. Better power supply for the repeater
2. Cut 2 pairs of your ethernet cable (pins 1,2,3,6 green/orange stay, blue/ brown pairs go)
Enjoy.
Are you saying that a decently powered wireless access point (as client) sounds better than using hard-wire back to the router/server? Sounds like an interesting tweak..
I have a Netgear powered wireless repeater.
No it does not make your music sound better, it just gives you a stronger more stable wireless signal...as the product was intended.
