I have the same rig as you. I set the buffer to 20000:60000, which was one of the recommended tweaks, but cannot say whether it changes anything. I am running piCorePlayer audio 3.11.I also ordered a linear power supply from Jameco, and a USB adapter. Hopefully there will be some SQ improvement.

It increases the input and output buffer.
Essentially letting your 'play from RAM'.
People have reported a smoother, less harsh sound when playing from RAM.
You can change the values to something really low to compare.
