Hmmh.

There are numerous ways to setup each of these OSes and players for best performance.
Whithout telling us what u did in detail, your comparison and related conclusion won't help anybody.

Arch vs. Rasbian
There are differences. Arch usually is quite ahead of Rasbian.
Arch uses the newest kernel, gcc compiler and packages.
Most OSes use custom audio kernels - based on the generic RPI kernel code.
However. The kernel base code is the same. The kernel config-settings can be different though.
MPD and squeezelite usually is based on the same base code.
I still think it's rather the setup/configuration which makes the difference between these installations. Each of these OSes have numerous options to tweak the audio performance.

MPD vs. squeezelite
Again a setup issue. IMO.
I support the MOODE project with some stuff and I have quite a good contact to some of the PiCorePlayer folks.
I still use my own Arch installation though. - Basically all I need is a kernel and squeezelite. All the clutter people are asking for just impacts the performance.
All I can say. MPD is and remains a NoGo from my side. I have both of them side by side every other day.
Again. I'd say it's the setup which makes the difference.

If u run into problems or if you have constructive improvement
proposals you should refer to the known sites for help.
Most of the time there are user errors causing this or that trouble.
The least one can expect is feedback if something goes wrong or if something should be improved.
The community is part of these amazing free-of-charge projects.

Enjoy.
Follow Ups:
Ran everything at the stock settings in all players. Just switched the i2s to match my card and disabled the volume.
Didn't really see any settings in Pi Core related to sound quality. If you can tell me what to change to make it sound less pedestrian I'm all ears.
Also guidance on the NAS set up. I mounted my NAS, it said everything was a go, I refreshed everything several times, but nothing ever showed up in the music folders. Able to see music with my USB hard drive mounted. That requires disabling the NAS. What if I wanted both like in the MPDs? Had to tell Pi Core player in two different places where the music was and refresh several times before I saw anything there either. Still worth it if the SQ was there.
As far as I know LMS can not see NAS drives.What I did was to create a local music directory on my LMS machine then in fstab mount the NAS and mirror the files on my local music directory. Now I can navigate to the files on my local machine via LMS.
If you want to improve playback on your Rpi I would start with the power and other settings by Archimago
Stick the microSD card for your piCorePlayer install into your computer's card reader, edit config.txt file on the root directory, adding this:
arm_freq=800
sdram_freq=400
core_freq=400
gpu_freq=300
over_voltage=-4
sdram_over_voltage=-4
gpu_mem=16From there power your Rpi via GPIO with a good Linear PS and your ahead of the game.

FWIW, DietPi is under active heavy development by someone who is VERY receptive to improvements. Its base system is probably the smallest around and you can install 'only' what you need to play music on top of that ie SL and ALSA. He also implemented SOX by default.

I have a Synology NAS and have all my music stored there. In fact you can even run LMS on the NAS I have. I don't, but you can.

Back when I was trying it could not see my NAS, haven't tried since. Let me look and see....hmmmmm
Thanks for the info!!!!
Not sure if you're running windows or not, but if File Explorer can see it LMS can too!

"...Ran everything at the stock settings..."
Guess what. I pretty much expected that.
U won't get around putting some brain into it to get going.
Much less though than you'd have to spent on a Windows system.
Good luck with that. A lot of stuff's been written already.
Enjoy.
I learned of two of his suggestions that I use:
1. Turn off HDMI output by setting "hdmi_blanking=2" in /boot/config.txt. I used wordpad on my PC to maintain Linux based CR convention.
2. Enable large buffer either in config.txt or directly in PcP's buffer section: -b 20000:600000
While I have an inexpensive linear power supply, I found that I prefer using one of my three phone chargers. Some time ago, I cobbled together a cable with USB at one end and a standard round jack used by the SBT. I had to purchase a micro USB adapter from Amazon to use it with the Pi.
It seems that I could disable HDMI from the Tweaks page of pCP setup (HDMI power = Off). Do I still have to edit /boot/config.txt?
I wasn't aware of that PcP setting which likely does the same thing.
I just followed SC's command line suggestion.
I was wondering why you said you had to pull the SD Card......
