Actually, I see little change in ASOG since it packed up these few weeks past in what appeared to be an amateurish attempt to eliminate the groundswell of support for Ralph Karsten. The archives and etc have worked for me all the while.Indeed, the only discernable recent change I have found is the addition of the following statement.....

The archive function of this forum will be maintained indefinitely. No new posts will be permitted. Thanks to all who posted here. Your comments have contributed to the evolution of Atma-Sphere products.
--------The implication being 'so long and thanks for the memories'.
One can now only speculate as to the chances of continued good health and well-being of the SoundLab Owners Group site (not to mention SoundLab itself if past events are any indication), as that site is also apparently under the thumb of the questionably motivated Mark Gilmore.
of the SLOG forum going away, I will be glad to host it if no one else cares to.I have a decent amount of self-taught experience at webmastering and set up a PHP based discussion board on my site with no help other than a couple of modifications to the code once it was up and running, to add some security. Hosting the SLOG discussion board software would be no problem.
Of course the "gotcha" is I'm a Sound Lab dealer, which might be viewed as a conflict of interests. You decide.

Just post your real name and a valid address, and I'll send you the databases for ASOG, SLOG, and the Martin-Logan forum. All you'll need is an http server, an Internet connection, and about $120 for the software license fee.
......or at least it might have been two months ago. Indeed, I probably would have gladly taken it on at that time, already having servers online for other endeavours which have quite a bit of space going for beg.Alas, if the events of the past month or two have taught us all one thing it is that transacting business with these two, those who have declared them allegiance, or with any of their interests...can be truly a poor decision. At least that is one of the great lessons I have taken away from it all.
I shall pass on your offer.

Or is the air so thin up there that you can't see the obvious absurdity of your reply?

rational posting preferred here, Al. spell out why you feel it is "absurd", please, thanks; Jack

Rational people are careful to gather facts before passing moral judgements."Simon Templar" first posted this comment:

When offered the chance to assume control himself, he declined because:

It is absurd because nowhere did I stipulate he had to associate with either Harry or Mark in order to assume control of ASOG. He declines to provide a remedy for the same reason he gave for complaining.
You're not quite telling the whole story here, are you?>

A simple WHOIS search performed on the domain name otlamp.com (the ASOG domain name) shows that the registration is held by none other than Mark Gilmore. I would say that seems 'control' enough.
The registration has been in his name, apparently, since 04Jan2003 ....and is scheduled to remain so until 04Jan2007. Perhaps I have read this wrong?
One might also mention receiving similar results when checking the registration of the SLOG address.

>To assume control of the website, the domain registration would need to be transferred. Or at least that would be one of my requirements. As I have already stated, due to recent events I merely choose not to transact business of ANY nature with Mr. Gilmore or those who act or have acted on his behalf. That is my choice. I feel quite sure that it will not be hard to find others willing to take it on, though, as you now seem so anxious to be rid of it.
I was not poking jest. There was indeed a time not long ago that I would have seriously entertained the prospect. If you no longer wish to be bothered with the task, it would be nice to see things taken on by someone with the proper motivation. For now, though, my position shall remain unchanged and needs no further explanation.
On other topics, I do wish to say that I am overjoyed that Ralph has come to an agreement on this ordeal that he finds to his liking. I am sure it is safe to say that this is what all of us were hoping for. As such, I congratulate Ralph as well as all the others for finding a peaceful resolution and I look forward to a bright future for both Ralph and AtmaSphere.

to do with it. I have no financial connection with Atma-Sphere or Glacier Audio, but I've known both Ralph and Mark for about ten years, and both have confided in me during this struggle. The domain is registered to Mark because he has been the unpaid technical support person for the site for many years. I agreed to moderate the site when Mark became an Atma-Sphere employee, and he agreed to follow my instructions. It was my decision to shut the site down when this dispute erupted, and it will be my decision of how to dispose it.
You have insulted both Mark and me based on misinformation and speculation throughout this ordeal. I frankly do not care whether you believe what I say because you are a fool.

Do you really mean to concur with Simon's prophesy that the SLOG is about to go under along with ASOG, unless someone steps up to take it over? I hope not. Are you the one holding the bag at SLOG currently?
![]()
Hi Lew....No prophesy intended, I fear. Merely idle speculation as to motivation. Nearly all happenings are part of some trend. I have found that random events rarely are.

I read the posts elsewhere re the provenance of ASOG and SLOG. Obviously, we all owe you and Mark a debt of gratitude for facilitating our babble these several years. No one could blame either of you if you wish to put down the burden at this time, notwithstanding other recent events that may have provoked you (and Mark) to want to do so.
