A different question from the one I posted below. Musical structure and interplay between the hands aside, which Jazz pianists have the "best left had in the business"?

Follow Ups:
I do not currently know. Thank you ALL very much. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells.......:-)

The THREE best left hands in Jazz piano history belonged to Fats Waller, Fats Waller and Fats Waller.

I want to suggest just one title which is a must for everyone who loves jazz piano. It's "Solo Piano" by Phineas Newborn. I'm not going to tell you about this album, you must hear it. I concider it one of the greatest solo piano recordings ever made. You'll be amazed.

Chucho Valdes! Power speed, and touch! You've got to see him switch over and back again from left to right hand runs to believe what you're hearing. For sheer power and force - McCoy Tyner in his prime had an awsome left, too. Those chunky left hand chords are at once recognizable as his.

Did you hear "Plays for France music" a solo piano double CD
mind boggling!

I haven't heard that one but will investigate. Thanks for the heads up!There is another MPS titled Movability. It's a duet with NHOP and is fantastic!

Probably not too well know, but this young boogie woogie player from Vancouver BC has a left hand like a pile driver -- maybe not the most articulate -- time will tell.

In no particular order:
Art Tatum
Eubie Blake...this guy may well be the best...but not if you don't like traditional jazz!
Oscar Peterson
Walter Norris
Don Shirley
and really any of the others mentioned by Mike KOne of the weakest left hands...is also one of my favorites...Chick Corea! If you want to hear something rather strange, find the duo recording of Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea...Hancock blows Corea off his bench with his left hand!

I'll take a listen...

Any truly good jazz pianist can play equally well with either hand.
Bud Powell was once accused by a bar patron of having no left hand
ability, and proceeded to play the whole next set with only his
left hand. Some examples of ambidexterous jazz pianists: Paul
Smith, Dick Hyman, Derek Smith, Oscar Peterson, Gerald Wiggins,
Ralph Sutton, Fats Waller, Earl Hines, Nat Cole, Hank Jones,
Tommy Flannagan, Teddy Wilson, Dave McKenna, and others.

Of course. I'm looking for the absolute stand-outs -- the "great among the great". Surely, a few must lead the pack...
