Thanks for the education from all the replies. I was under the impression the stringed instruments were unchanged because of all the old violins people have with the secret laquer (sp?). Maybe those aren't as old as I thought they are.

I have "The Swan" on a classical sampler CD and love it but will be getting the whole Carnival of the Animals along with the Organ Symphony tomorrow.
