Ella & Joe made several records for Pablo in the 70s/80s, and one
of them, entitled Take Love Easy, has been given the XRCD treatment
by JVC. Long story short, this is a truly marvelous recording.
Musically, Ella and Joe make it all seem so easy to do, when what
they are doing is extremely difficult - there's only the two of them
and there's nowhere to hide the mistakes and shortcomings. Only in
this case, there sure isn't anything to hide. Sonically, the
recording is spectacular - quiet, well miked and mixed, little/no
tape hiss, clear and clean, and no extraneous studio noise.Yes, this one's expensive, but *very* well worth it.

I agreed with everything said above, but I think the second LP they made is even better than the first. I have the original tape I bought in the early 80's the fantasy CD, The Pablo LP and also the XRCD of "Take Love Easy". Jazz at its best.

Brilliant disc, great music, superb sound.
...Never let those feelings show...
Its later companion albums are nice as well, but this one is THE best of the three, in my opinion.
I bought it to acuaint myself with the "standards" that were on it. (how is it all the 70 year olds I know can sing all the words to these songs?) Not a good one for doing that. They take the tunes out of the wrapper, chew them up and thats what you get.
BRILLIANT recording quality and performance.
Great on vinyl! One release that can get my emotions going, but isn't that what music is all about. Paid C$8 six months ago at HMV making it one of the best deals in music I've every made.Brian
