You're not wasting your time. For a cheap thrill (you don't have to go for baroque) try the complete set on Naxos (8.550402 and 8.550403). My favorites for the first six concerti are McGegan and the Philharmonia Baroque Orch. on Harmonia Mundi. Cheers, Dave

This and Handel's Opus 6 are blue chips in the baroque repetoire. Handel's Opus 3 is fun as well.
