Anyone into his band? Ever seen him live? I saw him live in the eighties, and wow, what a band! If I remember right, there were about 30 musicians, and it has to rate up there as one of my favorite live experiences. I am listening to "Synchro System" right now on vinyl, what a great album.
Follow Ups:
My favorites, beside Ju Ju Music, are his early recordings, when his band was called the Green Spots (I assume this was meant to compete with IK Dairo's Blue Spots, also a must hear). The earlier recordings are much simpler, funkier and more moving. Some of the most whimsical guitar playing I've ever heard. The more recent recordings I find a bit overproduced.
Get his most famous album "Juju Music" for a life-altering exprience. He was known as the African Bob Marley, and influenced a lot of musicians such as Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel in their World Music phases. Good Discovery!
