Periodically I search google to see if Tom Waits is planning a tour.
I'm a fan. I've never seen him in concert. It's number one on my concert bucket list.
I've been googling it for years now. Today a hit finally came. Unfortunately it turned out to be be some outfit in Paris who is performing The swordfish Trombone album.
Being a Tom Waits fan I have respect for their choice of music. I'm sure it will be a great concert.
However, this has made me realize how long I've been googling Tom Waits hoping for a concert. I should have got on a plane when glitter and doom was touring.
Am I screwed? Is Tom Waits too old to tour?
Brendan
Follow Ups:
He played the campus theater at Univ. of Houston.
Leon Redbone opened for him.
I remember at the end of the show, maybe one in the morning and there were maybe 50 people still there, he pulled a TV and a recliner out on the stage and looked to see what was on. Cussed because there was nothing and then played a couple of more songs on the piano.
One of the best concerts I've ever been to. And I'm not that big a fan.
I saw him in Houston in the late '70's also. He played in a small club set up with long tables. Pasties and a G-string was accompanied by a lovely lady wearing that outfit up on our table. My wife is still embarrassed by that! I saw Dave Brubeck at the same venue. Both great concerts.
