I remember how some years back someone mentioned, that rap is not what most of us think of it, and there are some very interesting artists.
Well, I've come into possession of yet another iPod, and this one contains over 6000 pieces of rap.
I am 90% classical guy, with some jazz and a few other things, so I would appreciate the guidance - I am perfectly willing to learn this new to me form.
Follow Ups:
I tried... honest... but so far a no go.
With popular music of the past 25 years running closer to 90/10.
With Rap it's likely closer to 95/5.
Your decimals may vary.

Some of the better known.Tupac(2Pac), NWA, DMX, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, OutKast, Eminem, Big L, 50 cent, Kendrick Lamar, Salt N Pepa, Lauryn Hill, Run DMC.
2PAC is often considered the best - but then YMMV

Clever Rhymes aren't enough.
And the heavy Gansta stuff, well it's not meant for me anyway.
The only rap songs I really like are Sir Mixalot's "Baby Got Back" and Kardinal Offishall's "Dangerous"...... The first one because the lyrics are funny, the second because it's one of few rap songs that seemingly has a "polyrhythmic" element.......
Aside from that, I'd recommend "Dropping Dimes" by basketball star Damian Lillard............. From an old "State Farm" insurance TV commercial.
my Public Enemy recordings from my dead, cold, clutching fingers.
