I am exploring options to reduce the footprint of my cd collection. I'm thinking of purchasing a binder to store them in and ditching the jewel cases. The only con I can think of is wondering if the plastic sleeves will react chemically with the discs in some way that deteriorates them prematurely or scratches them. I plan to keep the tray cards and booklets, so whatever sleeves I choose must accommodate the literature as well as the discs themselves. I would love to have some advice or recommendations. Thanks!

This may work for you. I do not use it myself but have bought from Sleeve City in the past. i hope this helps!
I use the 12" x 12" binders from keepfiling.com and am happy with them. They have 2" spines, which I like, as thicker binders become unwieldy. I forget where I got the pages, but they're pretty standard, and have a soft anti-static paper lining. Very thick booklets won't fit, but there are binder pages with pockets for those. With I could remember where I got the pages from - maybe bhphotovideo.com? Case logic? Archival.com?

But where do you store the back-of-jewel-box cards without folding them?
These are larger than the disc and booklet pockets and are often the only place where the list of tracks is shown.
The other big trouble with all "book" type CD storage is that, if you wish to maintain some sort of order, you need to be able to add new CDs without having to move every subsequent one. OK you can add a fresh page which often takes 4 or even 8 CDs - but you're only adding one new one!
A few years ago I designed a single-CD sleeve that would accommodate CD, booklet and unfolded back card. The CD and booklet were in separate side-by-side pockets and the back playlist card had its own pocket at the back, so the size of the sleeve was 10" wide x 5" high. The back card could be read without removing it from the sleeve.
Being individual, new CDs could easily be added, just as they can be when in jewel boxes on shelves or in drawers. These sleeves would be ideally stored in drawers (or perhaps trays) that were already designed for CD storage so readily available, but would hold at least 4 times the number in these sleeves than in jewel cases.
CD sales were rapidly dropping off and the likelihood of getting a manufacturer to fund the tooling and marketing seemed unlikely, so I shelved the idea.
