In Reply to: RE: I guess I think of him more as an opera conductor... posted by Ivan303 on June 05, 2017 at 21:23:01
I didn't put (...Wozzeck...) by (...Berg...) in the subject header
to protect a certain Moderator's sensitive sensibilities.
His name has been changed to protect the innocent.
He may live in Lafayette...
Follow Ups:
Do you remember a performance of whatever that opera might have been by whomever that composer, thankfully long deceased and who shall for obvious reasons remain anonymous here, by the MET in 2005-06?
So sometime one might pull the car over and wait till the end of a tune on the car radio but this was 'Live as the MET' so the car was pulled over for quite some time!
A 'What The $%^& Is This?' moment, for sure!
Link below:
Well, no.
But the Last 3 Scenes from that anonymous expressionistic Opera ( if it even exists )
are Wonderful, one of my most ( ...only...) vivid memories, playing that
with the Oakland Symphony w/Carlos Chavez, thought the roof would come off at the peak!
He was good!
Did I mention (...Wozzeck...), by (...Berg...)?
I meant to.
. . . who was conducting! (I'll assume it was Jeffrey Tate!) ;-)
BTW, looking over his discography, I find that it's pretty heavily Germanic.
Well, in a thread about Tate, I assumed that was obvious, but I didn't mention him by name.
That's what you get when posting late at night...
Oh GOD, I'm turning into, into, into,
The Presitrump....
Maybe HE should get him some Wozzeck and mellow-out.
Presitrump, I could have just hijacked the thread, talking about ME,
and not about what's his name or the other one.
But of course I didn't, though I should have mentioned about that Election I just won.
And those Fake 12 Tone Rows.
Fake, I say.
And the entire FTTRM.
Fake Twelve-Tone Row Media.
