If they can't play like this by the time they're 6 (or 10), then how are they going to play the Tchaikovsky Concerto by the time they're 12? Time's a-wastin' and those kids need to get practicing in order to one-up the competition! ;-)
I have a Relative ( who is a ) Girl in preschool, and already taking music, dance and socialization classes.
Music dance and socializing, oh my!

She is very fortunate. It's the kids who are not exposed to the arts at a young age that truly suffer. That would be the majority of them here in the U.S.
That scene seems kind of regimented.
More about the Parents fear that their child might not be able compete in the World, with thousands of other kids just like Her, all getting groomed at a young age.
That can't be the only way to teach about the Arts,
and it's not so About the Arts as it is some kind of perceived competitive edge.

I am sure there is some amount of discipline involved. It is, after all, education. If there were no discipline in the education of childeren there would be no education of children. That includes the arts. There are public schools that have been reduced to glorified baby sitting services that do not have the level of regimentation that is needed to facilitate a real education. Those are the kids that are being done a tremendous disservice. Even if they are having a more relaxing time in school.
