But I'm an old fashioned guy, who thinks parents shouldn't push their kids, and that this music is for grown ups.

It's a pretty common belief held amongst the entire culture of classical music that an early start is absolutely imperative for any musician to achieve any substantial level of excellence. If music were limited to grown ups it would be really quite bad by the standards we are accustomed to.
+1 AS. Except for the bruises covered up by their clothing. I for one am grateful to have parents who cultivated mediocrity and the opposite of encouragement. Likely at least in part a reason I have reached such a high status. Poor kids. At least others can enjoy their efforts while they suffer. Gotta look for the silver lining. T456

Who exactly are you speaking of? I have dozens of personal friends who are classical musicians, some extremely successful, all of which started playing music as a child, none of which regret starting as a child. Some of them lament having not starting even earlier than they did. None of them regret not waiting until adulthood to play music.
Les Prodiges, as far as I'm concerned, is a wonderful program.

You're right. there are at least a couple of occasions when ensemble and intonation need attention. :-)
I've debated playing publicly in sox for a long time. They're awfully young to be committing to the shoeless philosophy.
If they can't play like this by the time they're 6 (or 10), then how are they going to play the Tchaikovsky Concerto by the time they're 12? Time's a-wastin' and those kids need to get practicing in order to one-up the competition! ;-)
I have a Relative ( who is a ) Girl in preschool, and already taking music, dance and socialization classes.
Yikes!
Music dance and socializing, oh my!

She is very fortunate. It's the kids who are not exposed to the arts at a young age that truly suffer. That would be the majority of them here in the U.S.
That scene seems kind of regimented.
More about the Parents fear that their child might not be able compete in the World, with thousands of other kids just like Her, all getting groomed at a young age.
That can't be the only way to teach about the Arts,
and it's not so About the Arts as it is some kind of perceived competitive edge.
It's GOOD to be old...
I am sure there is some amount of discipline involved. It is, after all, education. If there were no discipline in the education of childeren there would be no education of children. That includes the arts. There are public schools that have been reduced to glorified baby sitting services that do not have the level of regimentation that is needed to facilitate a real education. Those are the kids that are being done a tremendous disservice. Even if they are having a more relaxing time in school.
