Enjoying it none the less.

The central section of the 3rd movt--the half-whispered violin melody over piano sextuplets--is really haunting.
I liked the whole thing and can't imagine anyone being disappointed by the period piano. The tumultuous ending is indeed more clear and transparent than the famous Chung/Lupu.
Classic Faust as well: there are times her bow barely vibrates the string. Some may not like that. In the case of the Franck, I do.
I like that art cover. Very good. Thanks for opening our eyes.
I'm a big HIP fan and especially a big Faust fan, but I was little gun-shy about HIP Franck and Chausson.Obviously they don't use Beethoven's fortepiano, and the period piano they do indeed use sounds quite nice.
Talk about old age though, I was going to download the whole thing, quite forgetting that I already have the Chausson download from Chandos and it's wonderful. I even mentioned it in here.
I'm downloading the Franck as we speak. I know the very popular Lupu/Chung version but the Finale is a bit relentless and thick. I'm hoping that the Faust/Melnikov is as "crystalline" as they promise.
Has there ever been a better time in human history to be a fan of Classic music?
