Gergiev seems to have been in a more mellow mood in many of his more recent releases. Check out his Mariinsky recordings of Prokofiev's Sixth and Seventh Symphonies vs. his LSO performances on Decca. Don't know how that will translate to Bruckner though! ;-)

OK, maybe not quite but...
He gets the 'Romantic' part right.
Enjoyable listen and no, never would have guessed the conductor.
