Because with Bruckner, MORE is never ENOUGH!
Plus, when you're The Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and you hire a new music director, what should we expect?
Record yet ANOTHER Bruckner series, of course!
Follow Ups:
and I really enjoyed it. Warm, glowing playing from the orchestra, and a really committed performance overall from Nelsons. Great sound quality, too--done by Polyhymnia for DG. Hard to say where it ranks with others I like (Van Zweden, Haitink/Vienna, to name a couple), but it's certainly a keeper.
Incidentally, Acoustic Sounds has it for $15.28 (with their 15%-off coupon code--shown on site), while HDT's price is $17.83 (with *their* 15%-off coupon code) and ProStudioMasters has it for $17.59 (already discounted).

Not sure if this one's the beginning of yet another cycle too, but it's newly released:
I have not heard of this conductor before - not that that means anything. But it just seems now that everybody wants to get into the act!
Another new cycle?
Could be. And in Multi Channel!
The 24/96 (2-channel) download of the Nelsons/LGO Bruckner Third is available from Pro Studio Masters (and probably some other places too). Also, I don't know if you saw (as part of that earlier thread) my post about the Gergiev/Munich PO release of Bruckner's Fourth - it could be the start of yet ANOTHER Bruckner cycle. As I said down below, at least we can thank the gods that it's not Barenboim's third (Oops! - I mean FOURTH) Bruckner cycle!
Both are up for streaming (lossless FLAC). And the Gergiev is in MQA Master on TIDAL!
Next in the cue.
So far behind. Still haven't done Nelsons' BSO Brahms cycle yet. Finally up for streaming.
Gergiev seems to have been in a more mellow mood in many of his more recent releases. Check out his Mariinsky recordings of Prokofiev's Sixth and Seventh Symphonies vs. his LSO performances on Decca. Don't know how that will translate to Bruckner though! ;-)

OK, maybe not quite but...
He gets the 'Romantic' part right.
Enjoyable listen and no, never would have guessed the conductor.
"With the Münchner Philharmoniker supplying such an outstanding performance under Valery Gergiev, Bruckner's music is remarkably well served."
Just finished listening to it in 24/96. Very well recorded and played, but yes, a bit on the tame side. Nevertheless, a most delightful experience.
Fauré's complete music for cello - a new BIS release:
I've been downloading other recent BIS titles too, including the Gluzman/Gaffigan/Lucerne Brahms Violin Concerto and the Alexandre Kantorow Russian Piano Music album (Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Balakirev). I love multichannel for solo and chamber music too, and all these titles are great examples of multi-channel engineering!
In additioun, BIS recently made available the multi-channel download of a two-channel download I'd previously purchased (Elgar's Symphony No. 2 etc with Oramo/Stockholm), so I was able to download the multi-channel incarnation for free, once it became available. I must say again that this is wonderful customer service on the part of BIS!
Another good one from Finland?
What think of his Sibelius cycle with City of Birmingham?
OK, 10 years ago but I'm a bit behind. ;-)
I guess it was recorded just prior to when so many Sibelius cycles started being recorded in hi-rez, and it seemed to pass under the radar of a lot of discussions and critical notices. But in any case, I thought the plain old CD (16/44.1) SQ was very good indeed.

A favorite amongst the relative few with which I'm familiar.
Let us know what you think!
Why is Andres smiling?
Because he gets to conduct MORE BRUCKNER!!!
I see the whole album is available on Tidal. Will give it a listen tonight.
OK, that's overstating the case a bit, but perhaps less 'Sturm und Drang' than some interpretations I've heard of the same music. ;-)
