Hi Tom
I will check her out.
I also play classical guitar. I have a Lance Litchfield C-900
It is a lattice braced guitar like the Smallman guitars

Very nice to know there's another classical player on AA. It sounds like an excellent instrument.

I've got a Kenny Hill Performance 630 Torres, a Hill Master Series Rodriguez 640 and for kicks a New World Player 615. I just wish I were as good at playing them as I am at buying them. But I love them dearly.

Hey.....aren't these instruments absolutely beautiful to behold. My guitar was actually on some web site.....my actual guitar.....his 30th instrument!!
Regards, Tom B.
Gorgeous, Tom. Knowing Cadiz's reputation, I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks.

Just listened to her Rodrigo concerto. I am sorry to say this is one of the worst performances of this great work I have ever heard. It is dull and boring. There is no excitement in her playing. She has a very mellow layed back sound when this piece calls for the opposite. It almost sounds as if she is only playing with the flesh of her fingers and not using any nail. There is absolutely no Spanish feel to the music at all. My favorite performance of this is the Mercury recording with Angel Romero. I believe he was only 16 when he recorded this but the outer movements are full of fire and the beautiful second movement makes me want to cry. I heard Pable Sanz Villegas do the Rodrigo live 2 years ago. No amplification in a 17000 seat hall and he filled the hall with sound. Another great performance

Alan,
I guess that's a perfect example of our own subjected opinions. If I had to listen to Angel's recording yet again I think I'd lose it. For me, Pepe is the true maestro. I'd have to disagree with you on her touch as well. I find her shaping of notes as very good evidence of plenty of finger nail action. Again, in context of the integration with orchestra I find her recording preferable to Williams, Yepes, Bream, or Romero.
Hey Alan.....we simply feel passionately about music. Nothing is wrong with that!
Regards', Tom B.
. . . I've noticed and have been intrigued by the album covers. ;-)
I'm a fan of Pepe too, especially the earlier Mercury recording, but I also have the later, more suave Philips recording with Marriner.
One little-known recording I just love (not least for its wonderful SQ) is this in-concert one on the Acousence label:
I was wondering if anyone else here had heard it.
