Worth a listen, sez Ivan.
A light, romantic touch, which this piece has long deserved but infrequently enjoyed.

. . . which I don't recall having been available on record before (?). Amazing that its last two movements (by a composer as well known as Saint-Saens) could simply have been "lost". Also, I don't see this work listed in the Wikipedia list of works by Saint-Saens.
Although the download lacks multi-channel tracks, the disc is also only two-channel. And at least the download has 24-bit capability so I'll probably spring for it.
And claims to be the first recording. Might have been completed and even performed in Saint-Saens' life but original manuscript left in a carriage and re-written for the performance?
I can read the album notes in QOBUZ player but can't copy and paste. :-(
I saw this too.
Saint Saens was quite the melody guy. The second mov't of his 3rd Violin Concerto is something to cherish.
That said, some of his other works are shockingly dry. Eclassical's deal is pretty difficult to pass up, especially when it's a Harmonia Mundi production.
I just downloaded Trio Wanderer's Dvorak Trios, and--as usual--it's a first class production all the way around.
