Poltera is a good one!
When you're done with that one try the Barber Violin Concerto above.
Follow Ups:
Still can't shake the luminous Shaham/Previn recording.
When it comes to hi-res, I actually prefer the competing Naxos, but those Scottish strings made my ears bleed in the tutti sections.
Shaham has a new version but I'm waiting for the individual tracks to come available.
One of the best things I've heard from Shaham. I've have to check out that cello concerto on BIS too. Thanks for the heads up.
For those with digital equipment capable of properly decoding 16/44.1 Redbook CD quality. :-)
The above is a fine performance. As a Curtis grad, she seems to 'get' Barber about a well as anyone, IMNSHO.

And the Meyer coupling is even better. Any time I hear someone whine about how 20th century music has "gone astray", I make them listen to the Meyer concerto. Never fails to bring them up short.
Happy listening,
Jim
