I absolutely love the way the Orlando Quartet does K. 458.
Follow Ups:
I remember they (the Orlando Quartet) had a couple of recordings on the Philips label early in the CD era. I think they were well received.
The recording you show must have been one of their last, since Amazon shows the date of its release as 1995, and they became the Parkanyi Quartet two years later (with a change in cellists). (Also, Amazon shows this recording as nla.)
I think it's the same recording on an earlier pressing. It's worth hearing, IMHO.
Chris, I verfied that the Channel Classics and Emergo releases have the same origin.BTW: Having been inspired by the Orlando Quartet two nights ago, I last evening listened its KV 575 & 589, Philips Catalog #412 121-1, which was sorely disappointing in terms of phrasing, dynamics, ensemble and intonation. This is the only instance when the Orlando was awful AFAIK. I had to confirm that the players weren't from Orlando Disney World :)
