Aho's orchestral color and musical imagination is amazing. His is one Bassoon concerto in which I think I'd be interested.
I know Mozart's Great Mass via Jochum's on DGG. I find the music easier to warm up to than the Requiem, but don't tell anybody. : )
Choral singing remain clean and clear?

Good find! Aho does indeed know how to write for the bassoon and all of his music is well worth exploring, in my opinion. I have wanted to produce one of his operas but could not find the money, unfortunately.
Long time Stereophile readers may remember Lewis Lipnik who is one of the world's leading contrabassoonists. He commissioned a contrabassoon concerto from Aho some years ago which was also released on the Bis label.
