I heard Rudolf Buchbinder in a recital in Chicago yesterday. He did one of the best performances of the Appassionata I have ever heard and an absolutely exquisite performance of the first set of Schubert Impromptus. The voicing in the Beethoven was amazing, revealing lines that I had never noticed before. If you get a chance to hear him live in a venue near you, don't miss it.
Follow Ups:
Heard him do the complete Beethoven Sonatas at the Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato Mexico 2 years ago. Suggest you get any of his beethoven you can find.
15 CD set for a mere 22.00 plus media mail shipping from Amazon Seller ZOVERSTOCKS.
Teldec is a decent label, sounds good streaming over QOBUZ and guessing better on CD so...
What's not to like?
On RCA, recorded live, and really superb.
Glad he was good in your venue. He played Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini here with the Cleveland Orchestra in 2014, and technically he was not up to it on that occasion.
