Mahler's conductiong style - inherited from Wagner - and the ruling style of the day (quite unlike what the charlatan period phonies are SELLING to the uninformed), was diametrically opposed to the one practiced in our time, including Kaplan's. While I too appreciate his mission, no one should be fooled into thinking that this is the way Mahler was performed when Mahler lived, that Mahler perform Mahler in this way, or that
