went to the Dallas International Pop Festival in 1970. Johnny had the three peice band he used on the first LP. Willie Dixon on bass. They were a phenomenal blues group. But what was really phenomenal...the Festival had a free stage for anybody famous or no who wanted to pick a little. Usually started up after the evening's scheduled sets were through. I'm walking back one night to where the group I came with crashed and who should be up on the stage? Winter and BB King, adlibbing an acoustic blues set. Johnny being albino practically glowed in the dark (of course, it coulda been the particular state of...um, conciousness I was in) and the guitar work was something else.Oh well, sorry to ramble on. You know how us old folks go on about the good ol' days.
"pickin' yer ass off" on my favorite cut from Muddy Waters "Hard Again", you gotta hear the origional ' I can't get no Satisfaction' that the Stones made famous: it's Morganfield's "I can't be Satisfied", with Muddy singing his one take and Johnny whoopin' and a hollerin' in the back. An excelent recording and a performance that garaunteeeees a smile. Can you tell they love their work?"We got that one down, we got that one down, we got that one d oweeeeeeennnn!"
Hi OaGaDItW -- How about the hilarious ad on TV with George Hamilton and Edgar!!
Howabout the Winter Bros. being mistaken for reanimated zombies in the Simpsons' Halloween special? Homer yells "Die, you pasty faced goons" and runs over them with his car.
Bart: "You killed the Zombie Flanders."
Homer: "He was a Zombie?"
I will have to go back and watch for the Winter brothers. Which Halloween special was it???
Sorry, I can't remember the exact one. Edgar and Johnny are trying to fix their touring vehicle stuck on the side of the road when Homer drives by and pastes them!
