This is a nice batch with some post bop jive and some good taste. They might sound familiar but you might have to dig into your memory bank.
For your listening pleasure-----kavakidd!!!bgs
Follow Ups:
Second to last is "Fly Little Bird" from Duke Pearson's album Wahoo!. Donald Byrd, Joe Henderson, Mickey Roker and a couple others. I'll have to listen to the others a little more before I try them. Probably tomorrow if work isn't too hairy.

Sorry for being so late to the contest. Very busy lately, I also didn't made last Duane's bunch. Thanks for the wonderful tunes Kavakidd. Do you have any more under the sleeve? ;-)

Sure, but not for this rookie ;-)
#1) Hmm, ya got me. Guys sound so laid back it makes me wonder if they're West Coast guys.
#2) Can't remember name of the tune, but from Grant Green's Idle Moments album. Henderson, Hutch, Duke Pearson, Cranshaw & Harewood.#3) Jackie Mac? Tenor player reminds me of Tina Brooks, but don't know a recording with Tina & Jackie.
#4) From Duke Pearson's Wahoo. Henderson & Byrd.
#2 correct
#3 Now you've heard one
#4. Yup
#5 YupSome folks left out on 3 & 5

Soooo....finally, after all those times I've been flummoxed I get a few right, and you demean my keen, incisive answers by commenting on how easy this batch was :-)Actually, I'm pretty familiar with this period in Jazz. But hopefully some who aren't hip to these recordings will be inspired to get 'em. That first one still eludes me.
SHIT-That was not my intent at all - sorry!! My intent was to put some stuff up from LPs that I think are really, really good without trying to be "tricky".

Hey that was really good stuff !!Looks like you were going for a Duke Pearson theme in this set -- really like his writing and playing. Is he the pianist on #3 too ?
But, no -- it's not him on #3 or #1

They were tunes that you personally liked and considered some of your favorites. I can handle the blame because I am Teflon Barry. They were all pretty nice and you showed great taste. Now we can get the next batch on sooner.I'll probably put some things on and tell you all who they are, one reason being that a couple are pretty new and nobody knows that they exist yet. Another reason would be that they might be not really be jazz things but a couple that I find musically interesting, like a singer-songwriter, a term which I hate.
Track 1 sounds to me like Art Farmer on trumpet.
Track 4 is "Fly Little Bird Fly" from the Donald Byrd record "Mustang" with Hank Mobley and McCoy Tyner - who by a significant margin smokes everybody on this tough tune. The others I'm not as sure about but will give some more listens to.
on #1, no on #2 It ISDonbald Byrd but it is not Hank Mobley or McCoy Tyner. The name of the tune is correct but not the name of the album.

I didn't listen to the track after the head since I knew the version from Mustang, but I don't know this recording. Sounds like Joe Henderson on tenor, not so sure on the others but the alto is familiar.
correct. Joe Henderson, that is.
