        I knew you would hear this stuff very easily. It's cool to have others offering clues. I wonder how many folks would have got Chubby Jackson figured out, just as one example. I don't think it would be hard for you to find another record by this same band and get it by me without me figuring it out if *I* didn't get that clue at the same time. The associations with Woody suggested by several here were a revelation of the obvious to me. Maybe that's because I don't have any of Herman's full-band personnel even close to memorizedm, I don't know....gotta go.

          I got his big and small band stuff, at least some of them. On the big band he used two bass players so he could chearlead more. He seemed to always play at the higher register of the bass, I guess it was easier for him. He always had great cats in his bands.
