Charlie Christian tune that Chubby did, I think people might be surprised who the tenor is with Teddy and I have some of these things, if not on record but on tape. I might miss some but would probably be very close. After all, I saw a lot of these people!! I'm not bragging because I would sincerely love to have some of those years back to hear the future. In retrospect I'm somewhat sad. It really is a pleasure to hear these things again though.

...wherein he quotes someone else as having said "Life is like a sewer--what you get out of it depends upon what you put into it." May your water be as potable as the rest of ours.Time is a thief, and I guess most of us feel like we wish we could go back from time to time, but of course we can't. I can't tell you how many times over the years that I've felt like I was born 20 years or more too late. I really envy the list of folks you've been able to hear in your lifetime.

See, Tom Lehrer even brings back memories. He was part of a group of great story tellers although he did his telling like a troubador and a guy like Gene Shepherd told his stories verbally.Kava came up with a pretty good idea, at least I thought it was interesting. People could put some things on (at least I would put them on) that are musical selections that they themselves enjoy. Don't have to be no guessing game for this. Just stuff they like and might listen to just for themselves. Like I didn't think that you listened to Tom Lehrer but it's interesting to know now that you do, even if it's just occasionally---or maybe more often. He (Kava) mentioned things that you want if you were stuck on a desert island but I don't think it has to be that crucial. Everybody knows that I would stick Sonny R., Miles etc. in that mix. Other kinds of things like maybe a vocalist that you wouldn't submit for a blindfold or a Hank Williams tune. Yeah, could be interesting. Remember, I can't put Bartok's Concerto For Orchestra on....I could ask the same thing as a poll on the forum. Anybody got eyes?

I've had the same thought myself, but thought it was maybe a little too OT for your site. If you're game, I have a ton of non-jazz things I'd like to share that I think deserve wider attention. I promise not to dump the whole ton at once.BTW, I have three Lehrer albums, and they all crack me up. I only listen occasionally to them because they're not the kind of thing you want to listen to TOO many times, and also because my "to listen" pile of new stuff is getting bigger all the time.

I got some things that might be important to me but other people may not dig it but that's the point!
