Hello,A friend has a really nice, fully restored HF-81. By reputation the sound is supposed to be glorious. Is there any danger hooking them up to my stacked quads. I have heard stories about the quads eating certain amps, which is fine if they are MY amps to be eaten...but my friend would dissaprove I'm sure.
Any exerience here?

IMO, not enough amplifier to make 4 Quads sound as they should. Incidently, my first integrated amp hooked to a pair of Quads was an Eico HF-81 kit my boss had just built (1962). Surprising how much better I thought the Quad II's sounded...Sandro

My understanding is that Quads, loverley tho' they are, exert a heavy capacative load on the amp driving them ... so if your amps don't like capacative loads (like mine!), don't use em on Quads!Regards,
A friend who bought my super condition ESL57s,tried them with an HF-81,and said that the EICO didn't have enough juice for 1 pair of 57s.
