I find that Maggie's don't *need* other Maggie's for surround duty for movies. And they make great speakers for movie time, particularly with larger models and/or a sub.
I went 6.1 (7.1, no center) for quite a while, but found the extra speakers weren't really mandatory for me. Part of that was the hassle, having my room filled with speakers, and for music I prefer 2 channel. So... I'm back to 2 channel only for whatever happens in "the big room"; >95% music.
Follow Ups:
In my bedroom 2.1 HT system (just used for streaming Netflix and the like) I just have the LRS+ and an Arendal subwoofer.
Having more speakers are not practical in that room, but I'm constantly astounded as to how satisfying the Maggies (plus subwoofer) perform in this context.
Maggie's, particularly when size suited to the room, can be great with "only" 2 channels.
