Which way would you prefer to wire the stacked Quad ESL-57? Parallel or series?
What are pros and cons of each approach?

I strongly recommend series.
There is a 1 Ohm dip in the Treble response that would become 0.5 Ohm in a Parallel configuration. Not many amps will be happy with this...

...and altho at 80YO my memory is not reliable, I'm pretty sure I wired them in parallel.. That's a rather-low-impedance load, but I don't remember having trouble driving them.. Used an Amber 70 IIRC; couldn't afford the better, lower-power poweramps(s).. I recall that the Bedini 25 (?) was popular for that, especially because its power output was low enough NOT to overdrive the 57s into arcing.
Good luck; hardly seems worth the trouble TO ME, but I've surely done crazier things in my 65 years of audiofoolhood.
