Interesting. Seems to me the tweeter would suffer from vertical beaming.

My preference is not to have those kinds of dissimilarities as I find they tend to distract. If you're going to do a line array, do a line array!
The KLH 9 struck me the same way with its lone tweeter in the middle.

At least they had the excuse of being pioneers -- we understood so much less about speaker design back then!
Art designed the 9 towards the end of the 1950s.
Doubles (like mentor JWC once had) or triples were quite the thing back in the day!

If you follow the link, you'll find Dr. West's name mentioned there as that's where he got his start. Interestingly, the triples depicted foretell the wide angled flat facet approach he later adopted with Sound Lab.
Now that's quite an installation!
It seems they have shortish tweeters in all their models.
