Some look like fine mountains to climb.
Follow Ups:
As you might guess from my moniker, I have Maggies... and cats. During my Maggie time, roughly 40 years, I've had 6 cats. The first 4 had full access and never paid any attention to them. The current pair have had very limited access but have still shown no interest in them. All cats are different and I'm sure there are plenty who would love to shred them. I'd suggest a conservative approach...

Steve

Science doesn't care what you believe.
I can see why some don't like cats. Tough to control and you need to devote some time to the care and feeding. My experience is that you get OUT of it what you put INTO it....
But where do you stand on little Yappy dogs? Ever been attacked by a Chinahua? Nasty, threatened little shits. And if you drop kick it into next week, the OWNER will probably be 'angry'.....
Too much is never enough
Ha.
Had cats.
And they NEVER TOUCHED 'em.......
Sofa? Destroyed Area Rug? No Mas Trees in back? The claw was worse than the bark......
Cat Tree? Mostly ignored.
Too much is never enough
Yep, we have several cats. They are family members to us. We get attached to the little guys. But my 3.5R's and my system is in it's own room where the cats do not go. Double doors always closed as it's a finished carpeted basement family room I took over. They have free roam of the house except my listening room. Being in an open room would be a problem I could see. Would have to make some kind of protector covers then.
And the idea of de-clawing cats is a no go for me. That's cruel. It's their natural way of self defense if they are outdoors.
Declawing a cat is not cruel. It's done under sedation and the cats don't
feel pain afterwards, per my veternarian. As for defending themselves
with the front feet, watch cats fight and hunt sometimes if you want to
see how they fight. I've had a declawed cat who spent lots of time out of doors and the cat had no trouble climbing trees, killing birds and mice (which it never ate, btw) and defending itself.
I'm not a cat lover. They're psycopathic.
Life is hard. It's harder when you're stupid.
In my opinion, it is cruel. Our local vet here refuses to do it. Can't agree with your vet. My sister had her 2 cats declawed years ago and regretted it. They weren't the same afterwards. Listless and slow. And her then vet told her that they were now indoor cats for this very reason.
But we are all entitled to our opinions, not a problem, You have yours and I have mine.
My cat climbs my 2+2 acoustats and sleeps on top them, cloth doesn't look so good, even though shes declawed, she has no problems outdoors, she'll even sit up on them when their playing music, and only speaker she goes near, I've watched her climb them to see if her fur gets aroused by the stators, and it don't.
This is pretty much exactly the same as my situation. Only difference is I have a single door.
We have 6 cats and a cat sized dog...
Another name for a 'cat sized dog'? Rat.
My big bad cat, Renfield DID actually make friends with a herd of miniature poodles.......He was larger than most of 'em......and they played once in a while......I think he scared them......for a while.
Too much is never enough
...... if they ever get an itch
