Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

I bought a set of ps audio m700s recently (had to sell all my high quality cables to afford it lol) and im slowly rebuilding my cable setup-what speaker cables do you guys recon would be good between the ps audio power amps and a set of maggie 2.7qrs? they are 4 ohm and the amps can provide a genuine 700wrms into 4ohms so I want a good cable to make the most of it. Im going to replace my xlrs also im thinking Cardas for them as I really liked how they sounded with the last amps I had.
Follow Ups:
My suggestion, Anthony is my multiple, teflon-coated, solid-core copper wires.
The number of individual solid-core wires for each run (to the +ve & -ve spkr terminals) depends on the length of the cables.
You will never actually pass 700w into the 2.7s ... the reason your M700s will do a good job on the spkrs is bcoz they can pass current, to set these inefficient spkrs alive.
So, I would say:
* if they're 3m or less ... then 8 solid-core strands to each of the +ve and -ve terminals will be sufficient.
* if they're 3-5m then 12 solid-core strands should be used
* and if they're 5+m then 16 strands are needed.

just buy some 10 ga solid copper wire like electricians use from Home depot
- the other stuff is just smoke and mirrors that the industry wants you to waste money on.
Not here to argue but that's simply not true. I agree some of these designer cables are no better than some of the mid level wire. But anyone that thinks that you can get wire from Home Depot that is in the same stratosphere is not being truthful. Cables do matter and I found that solid core speaker cable work better to me with Magnepan's. The best cable I've ever had in my system was Tara Labs 0.8. The only reason I got rid of them was due to weight. They're a very heavy cable and even with the use of cable risers the banana at the speaker end would bend and eventually break.
If you dont like the home depot wire then you can try making pure silver DIY cables for a few hundredthe big money cables are an absolute waste of $$$$$

I just don't understand why people spend thousands of dollars on speakers, amps/ preamps, turntables and DAC's only to go DIY on cables. To Me IT Makes No Sense!
I can tell you why.
because its the one area of the hobby where you can save a fortune.
I made my own silver interconnects for 40 bucks a pop - a company would have wanted 10x that amount for something that is very easy to make.
its not so easy to design your own DAC
Canare 4S11. Use the money you saved and buy some records...
Thats a ballpark question, it would help if you stated a budget. But even then, USA + European cables will have a different price tag down under, where as a home based cable manufacturer may possibly offer the same performance level for a lower price, or a better performance for the same price.
In general, as you climb the ladder of $$, performance will increase, the quality of the system will determine at which point/price you have reached the systems potential. Roger is wrong in stating that cables "are not really that important". A complete high quality cable loom is capable of transforming any given system.
a cable loom of Cardas "Clear Beyond" would be a good choice, but whether it's your "cup of tea" or it matches with your system remains to be seen. All high-end cable manufacturers preach "absolute neutrality", but funny enough, they all have a different "taste" of neutrality. You just have to do your homework.
If I must give a recommendation, it would be the "Individual Line" from Schnerzinger.
As someone wrote: "It's not a terrible amp, but it's terribly overpriced."
You cannot feed 700 W into the MG 2.7. Cables are really not that important.
I am not sure why you say 'you can't feed 700w ..." other than the speakers will probably not demand 175 amps. In any case for the OP I would recommend Anti-cables (12 awg magnet wire). Relatively cheap and capable of high current. Cheaper still is to buy 12 awg mag wire from Remington Industries and use bare wire termination. Cost will be around $10 and sound is excellent.

Reasonably priced, well made, reputable company, and a serious upgrade
over stranded speaker cable.
Life is hard. It's harder when you're stupid.
I compared them to every cable in my arsenal at the time. Limited like most... I had them, some Monster, Straightwire, Tara Labs.
Ended up using the Anticables, Tara was my second fave.
