I suggest to get some 0.25" copper tubing from Home Depot. (Refrigeration coil.)
Cut that into some 1.25" pieces and A/B test with your fuses.
Do that test blind with the assistance of a helper.
Check back after you done that. :)

Follow Ups:
What about the simple expedient of removing the fuse and holder from the circuit altogether?
I make jumpers for my 1.6s.....which come with Chrome Plated Steel....(they ARE magnetic!) I replaced with lengths of #6 wire sanded to match the diamter of the original jumpers......
#6 is 0.162" and I think the jumpers are about 0.15Plus......
Too much is never enough
Yeah, that's an option.
But the OP, I think, is primarily interested in the audibility of fuses, or "fuses." It's important to establish an audible reference if going down that rabbit hole. Just replacing them with a shorting bar establishes that audible reference, without altering anything else in the circuit.
But, you must perform the evaluation blind, or it's meaningless.
Dave.
That's literally the VeraStarr mod with the exception of it being pure silver.
Yeah, I understand.
The second part of my suggestion is the most important part.
Dave.
