There are too many reasons jumping out to imagine Magnepan would pre-wire their 3.7i's without XO parts, fuses and connection plates substituting tube-connectors to plug up to an external aftermarket DIY parts kit while maintaining factory warranty support without copious amounts of terms and conditions in place beforehand.
Using a 60 watt amp and then saying the 3.7i bass was anemic was another head scratcher.

Follow Ups:
I have to hand it Danny though. He drives full-throttle with his business model and doesn't care who he impugns along the way. Nobody is off limits from criticism......either ignorant or informed.
I'm wondering about the person that offered up these brand new 3.7's to Danny. I don't understand the motivation there.
Oh well.
Dave.
I don't fault Danny for doing his mods. That is what this forum used to be all about (Peter Gunn mods, DIY mods, XO's tweaks, parts swaps, bypassing, active XO, rewires, stands, wings, frames, delam repairs, chopsticks, razor, etc.).His donor is probably no different than those that sent off their Maggies to PG for new furniture and a serial XO, but they were probably not new when they shipped off (except for the base models).

Based on his efforts, is it now everybody's understanding the 3.7i crossover is improperly designed???
This is the premise he's establishing, so I'm wondering how much this sort of thing moves the needle with owners and potential owners.
Dave.
Let us pray that anyone interested in a Magnepan will trust their ears!
Danny has some clear biases and to operate on a fresh speaker is troubling. It is also notable that his measurements always seem to conflict with everyone else's.
I enjoy his videos and learn quite a lot but I have 50 years of personal
audio experience to filter what I am shown with what I know. Or some might say, my personal biases! I started with the MG2c - 3A - 4A - 20.0 - 1.7 and now the 3.7i. There will always be a Magnepan in my house. I consider 250 watts into 4 ohms a minimum. I do want to remove the crossover from my 3.7i and install jacks for direct contact with
the drivers. That opens a world of possibilities because in the end I am all things DIY. Magnepans are just fine as designed and built but it only costs $1200 and a couple days labor to see if Danny is correct.
