Listening to The Red Hot Ray Brown Trio on my 20.7's and man when I say nothing compares to how they reproduce the.sound of the piano. I swear this is good stuff. Gene Harris is actually playing in my music room. I got a glass of 18 year old scotch, live music and I swear I smell a hint of a fine cigar. LOL! My system is sounding delightful. If you're a Maggie owner treat yourself to this album, CD or stream.

The Red Hot Ray Brown Trio is good, get yourself a copy of Summer Wind:
Live at the Loa, on Concord! Actually, all of the Ray Brown Trio records
from the 1980s forward are worth having. Ray Brown was THE master of
string bass.
And I agree with you about Magnepans. They do strings so well it's almost
criminal. And vocals. That said, when I hit the lotto big time, I'm
buying a pair of appropriate sized Sound Labs. But I'd never give up on
Maggies.
Life is hard. It's harder when you're stupid.
The Ray Brown Trio "Soular Energy" featuring Gene Harris sounds incredible as well, Especially my personal favorite, Sweet Georgia Brown. Another great recording is a live recording, Gene Harris and the Philip Morris Allstars. Check out Bags Groove and Collage in Blue.
Hey blgtrio do you still have the Spectra 66? Now those are the KING!
Up late doing some quality listening and came across a great album on Qobuz. Oh my goodness this album Straight Ahead which also consist of the album Overseas Special by Monty Alexander, Ray Brown and Herb Ellis is straight butter for your Magnepan speakers.

+1 Live at the Loa ...- gene Harris on piano with his favorite bass player. :)
Here is great song if you want to see what type bass and drum kick your Maggie's are capable of. Ted Poor: You Already Know album, songs: To Rome and Emilia. A great trust to the chest. You will definitely feel the power of Mr. Poor
Nice - listening nowMy Rythmic sub helps.

Can't disagree as I'm enjoying a vintage pair of 3.5Rs I found earlier this year and surprisingly all the wires are still intact on the mylar. Couldn't believe it. I've been thru the re-glue process so I know how to do it if needed. I'm on my 4th pair of Maggies and could never go back to box type speakers. My first pair of SMGc's replaced a pair of Dalquist DQ10's that just never did it for me. Magnepans just open up another level, so open and spacious.
