the difference between you and me is that I actually spent an hour listening to them and you are just a guy talking
Follow Ups:
I got into a discussion with another Inmate here about ML speakers. He dissed them out of hand. Said he'd heard hybrids in the past and there was no way they would ever work. I asked if he had heard the latest versions, like my 13a's, and he said he didn't have to.
The premise that you can't have an opinion on a product unless you have firsthand experience is silly.
Regardless, you must have missed the part where I didn't say that I hadn't listened to the GP speakers before.
Dave.
But with speakers, it's all about the sound. So what could be more vital to an opinion of speakers than to hear them before you form a final opinion.
White paper, reviews, and having listened to older models/versions shouldn't be the total basis for a final opinion.
That's more nuanced than you intimated in your earlier anecdote. Thank you for elaborating.
Dave.
That would be just one of many differences between you and me. :)
The main thing you might notice about my demeanor regards audio equipment is I never, ever, engage in flowery rhetoric regards it. I'm totally objective at all times and I never get wound about it.
Nonsense, intellectual dishonesty, and self deception pervade this industry, unfortunately.
Dave.
and yet with all that you never did hear themlet me tell you a little secret about speaker design - many times it the IMPLEMENTATION of a deign which can set it apart
Material science has improved - how do I know ?
I have been a mechanical Engineer for decades .
the speaker has received so many accolades that it is ridiculous - so the folks at home can believe you or every professional reviewer who has ever heard them !

There are fanboys operating everywhere now.
I just wish they'd be more objective, do their homework before engaging, and leave the hand-waving rhetoric on the sidelines.
The German Physiks speakers have been around a long time now. I like the design.
But Walsh was the innovator here. Not German Physiks. :)
Dave.
I think they were Borderland Mk2's (IIRC) that I heard many years ago. I thought they sounded fine.
I've listened to a couple of the other models too, but for a very limited time and I don't remember the model.
It's not "many times".....it's at ALL times about the implementation. As an ME you should well know that.
Dave.
"Built to very high standards and offering an impressive array of sonic attributes that will satisfy both the ardent audiophile and the music lover, the Borderland's unique styling and omnidirectional sound place this German delight on the must-audition pedestal." - The Absolute Sound
